The Early Years

There was indeed a hush on The Close the night that David Graveney said of Tony Gill,
"He is the most dangerous bowler I ever faced".

Tony

From casual beginnings in 1961 this history, entitled The Early Years,

covers the development of Jack Frost XI, right up to the turn of the millenium, with a tour to Australia.

This personal history of a late 20th Century Wandering Cricket Club, Jack Frost XI,
written by Tony Gill, the clubs founder, gives a unique insight into the rise of post war social cricket.

In between are accounts of the clubs adventures on tour in the New Forest,
Midlands, Wiltshire, Scotland, Ulster, Ireland, Alderney, Spain and California.

Stories of matches in club cricket weeks, on Sundays against villages and International encounters,
including a game at the Kennington Oval, give an insight into wandering cricket over forty years.

About the author:
Tony Gill was born in Lancashire before the war but spent most of his adult life in Surrey and Chelsea
before moving to his present home in Hastings.
Tony wrote the world-wide success 'Centenary Test 1980' besides other cricket publications
and contributed to a number of cricket anthologies.
