casual beginnings in 1961 this history, entitled The Early Years,
covers the development of Jack Frost XI, right up to the
turn of the
millenium, with a tour to Australia.
This
personal history of a late 20th Century Wandering Cricket Club, Jack
Frost XI,
written by Tony Gill, the clubs founder, gives a unique
insight into the rise of post war social cricket.
In
between are accounts of the clubs adventures on tour in the New Forest,
Midlands, Wiltshire, Scotland, Ulster, Ireland, Alderney, Spain and
California.
Stories
of matches in club cricket weeks, on Sundays against villages and
International encounters,
including a game at the Kennington Oval, give
an insight
into wandering cricket over forty years.
About
the author:
Tony
Gill was born in Lancashire before the war but spent most of his adult
life in Surrey and Chelsea
before moving to his present home in
Hastings.
Tony
wrote the world-wide success 'Centenary Test 1980' besides other
cricket publications
and contributed to a number of cricket
anthologies.
