As
most Frosters know, our wonderful club was
founded in
1961 by our President HCA ‘Tony’ Gill. So
this year, 50 years on, we
celebrate the Jubilee Year of Jack Frost XI
cricket together, marveling
collectively at the longevity of our fine
‘wandering’ cricket club and
looking forward to the next 50 years with
great anticipation!
In order to celebrate our Jubilee Year in a
manner befitting Jack Frost
XI, your Committee has put plans in place
for a number of very exciting
events, all of which deserve the support of
our Members, we are sure
you will all agree.
Please see details below, and equally
importantly respond accordingly
to notify your Committee of your intention
to attend/participate in
each of the events, which are detailed in
chronological order.
Jubilee

This event will be held at the
renowned
Berkshire Golf Club near Ascot on Thursday

The cost for this fantastic opportunity to
play one of the great
woodland/heathland golf courses in the UK
will be circa £130 to
£140 per person. Members, ladies
and Member's guests are
all welcome.
N.B. If you are inclined to play only 18
holes and have lunch
beforehand or afterward then there will be a
moderate financial
discount available.
Please contact the Hon Secretary Alastair
Crowhurst on his mobile or by
email for more details and to reserve your
place.
The
Berkshire -
Blue Couse - 1st hole
Jack
Frost XI President's v Chairman’s
Match
This event will be held at Abinger CC in
Surrey on Friday 8th July
2011.
The anticipated format will be an all day
game of ‘declaration’ cricket
with two teams drawn from the ranks of Jack
Frost XI Members and
friends of the XI.
We envisage running an all day BBQ. The bar
and pavilion will also be
open all day to accommodate the needs of the
Members and their guests.
Suffice to say the demand from Members to
play in this match will be
strong as we all look to ‘get one over’ on
our team mates in the
hottest contest of the 2011 Jack Frost XI
calendar! Get that holiday
booked now with the boss to ensure you can
make it!
Please contact the Hon Secretary Alastair Crowhurst
on his mobile or by email for more details
and to reserve your place as a player and/or social visitor.

Jubilee
Cricket Tour
After much debate and soul searching amongst
the Committee and our
Membership - not to
mention some extremely hard
work on the part of Tim Martin in organising
three potential tours - it has been decided that, given
the current financial
climate as well as other events taking place
in our Jubilee year, a
more ‘local’ tour is the most viable option
for 2011.
So the official Jack Frost XI Tour for our
Jubilee Year will take place
on the island of Vis in Croatia and will run
from September 15th – 20th
2011.
Vis
As the website says ‘Vis is a stunningly
beautiful island. Lying 40km
off the Dalmatian coast, Vis is a haven away
from mass-tourism where
you can enjoy the Mediterranean as it used
to be, laid back and
unspoiled. When we're not playing
cricket, we can offer you
swimming, snorkelling, diving, sailing,
paragliding, trekking and
tennis as alternative activities - and then
of course there are the
more leisurely pursuits of sunbathing,
dining on delicious seafood and
tasting the renowned organic wines produced
by the islanders. Your
holiday, your way, at whatever pace you
like.’ Visit www.viscricket.com
Vis
For those intending to play a bit of
cricket in
between the wine snorkelling, there will be
two afternoon games and one
evening T20 thrash, all played at Vis' only
cricket ground, where the
opposition come to us!
The total cost for the tour including
flights, ferries, hotels,
transport, match fees and other tour
expenses (but not
spending
money) wil be £295!
To reserve your place, whether
as a player or ‘social’
tourist, send your
non-refundable Tour Deposit of
£100 to the Hon Trreasurer Dom Bryan
by February 28th 2011 – any
deposits received after the deadline may
result in increased flight
costs.
Please contact Tim Martin on his mobile or
via his email for more
details.
Jubilee
Dinner – Friday
18th November 2011
As a finale to the events celebrating our
50th Anniversary, where
better to celebrate the beginning of our
next 50 years than at the home
of cricket – at Lord's NW8!
Jack Frost XI Members, their partners and
guests will celebrate ’50
years of Jack Frost XI cricket’ at a black
tie dinner in the Long Room
at Lord's.
A champagne reception, music and a free bar
during the reception,
(wines and beer as well as soft drinks),
followed by a three course
dinner with ½ a bottle of house wine
and ½ a bottle of
mineral water per person followed by a high
profile after dinner
speaker – all in the wonderful setting of
The Long Room at Lord's, with
views of the floodlit square and Media
Centre!
The cost for this celebration of all things
Frost will be £135 to
£150 per person depending upon our
total numbers.
Please contact Alastair Crowhurst on his
mobile or by emailfor more
details and/or to reserve your place.
(£75pp deposit required by
March 1st 2011 – balance due by August 1st
2011).
The Long Room - Lord's
In order to ensure attendance by as many
Members as possible, payment
plans are available for the Vis, Croatia
Tour and the Lord's black tie
dinner, for those who would prefer to pay
that way – please enquire
with the appropriate organiser.
As you might imagine we are looking into
corporate sponsorship for some
of these events in order to try and keep the
costs down for our Members
– so if you run your own business or know
anyone who may be interested
in sponsoring all or part of any of our
events please contact the Hon Secretary
Alastair Crowhurst.
Suffice to say an awful lot of thought,
effort and negotiation has gone
into organising these events for our
Members. But none of them will
happen without your support. So the sooner
you respond to the
appropriate person to confirm your interest
the easier it will be to
budget for these events and of course the
easier it will be for your
Committee. Your assistance at making this
challenging but exciting year
a little easier for your Committee is
appreciated.
